What is ECO4 Scheme?

ECO4 stands for Energy Company Obligation, Phase 4. ECO4 is a four-year scheme intended to run from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026. The primary objective of ECO4 is to provide energy-efficient upgrades to households with poor energy efficiency, occupied by low-income and vulnerable residents. Under this scheme, medium and large energy suppliers have targets that they are supposed to meet; hence, they provide funding for the installation of energy-efficient systems for UK households.

For the ECO4 scheme, the installation of energy-efficient measures is funded by medium and large energy suppliers. Each obligated supplier has an overall target, based on their share of the domestic energy market in Britain. Then these suppliers coordinate and work with installers to introduce certain approved energy-efficiency measures into your homes.

To qualify for ECO4 funding, the first step is to check your eligibility. You only need to complete our eligibility checker form and submit it. We will do your initial assessment and take care of the rest for you.

The ECO4 scheme is one of the government’s initiatives to increase energy efficiency in the UK. With several households now in fuel poverty, this scheme is targeted towards households with lower incomes.

Multiple energy-efficient measures can be accessed through government schemes and local initiatives. These measures are aimed at improving energy efficiency and affordability. These measures include insulation, heating upgrades, and renewable energy systems.
GBIS stands for Great Britain Insulation Scheme. It is a nationwide insulation program that has been designed to help lower and middle-income households, as well as homes with poor energy efficiency ratings, access funded home insulation improvements. It can be assumed as a complementary scheme to ECO4; however, it has a specific focus on insulation only.
The properties with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G could be eligible for GBIS. Additionally, there is a difference in allocated measures for owner-occupied or tenant-occupied properties.
The GBIS scheme is funded by the UK government and is managed by Ofgem.
It’s legit. The reason for it being free is that the UK government has been designed to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions across the UK. Under the ECO4 scheme, medium and large energy suppliers have targets that they are supposed to meet; hence, they provide funding for the installation of energy-efficient systems for UK households.
If you do not qualify, we may try and contact your local authority to see if an exception can be made using what is known as LA Flex (Local Authority Flexible Eligibility)
